Crag Crest Trail on the Grand Mesa is the area signature hike, an 11 mile loop that follows a rocky ridgeline above the surrounding forest. On clear days you can see Uncompahgre Peak and the 14000 foot peaks to the southeast, plus Colorado National Monument and Big Dominguez Canyon. The trail sits at 10000 feet, so altitude hits harder than expected, and the rocky top sections require some scrambling. You do not need to complete the full loop to get Colorado’s finest views.
